Commission: Midnight Dancer and Ashes by MykeGreywolf Commission: Midnight Dancer and Ashes by MykeGreywolf
A commission from the very cool :iconerickilla:, depicting Midnight Dancer and Ashes, respectively OC's of :iconsquigglz: and her son.

Now this is the cute, inspiring, heartwarming stuff that I like working on, and for that, I am very grateful to my customer. I really hope that he enjoyed getting this as much as I did making it.

Am I the only one who finds it incredibly creepy that you post on EVERY pic involving Midnight Dancer?

Uh well let's see, first off I commissioned this, and second off I'm in a relationship with Squigglz. Honestly she likes me to comment on her stuff. You on the other hand... euuuck.

All I did was comment on that this artwork uses a beautiful use of lighting.

When I first looked at this all I did was smile.

Absolutely gorgeous. This picture was everything I was asking for... and then-some. It captured the adorable, heartwarming mother-son interaction that I was wanting.
I love how realistic the expressions on the ponies' faces are, and I very much like the level of detail you added, ranging from the wood grain of the bench to the frayed ends of the snapped balloon string.

The lighting and shading is impressive, to say the least, and actually took me by surprise. The direction of the light is a nice tough; Dancer is flying out of the sun, and it gives her an almost angelic appearance.

I initially was going to ask for a more detailed background showing maybe a playground and a park path behind the bench (though I had forgotten to mention it), but I decided I liked this better. It's got detail, especially in the clouds, but not too much, and I think it suits the picture better than what I was wanting. Speaking of the clouds: they look very realistic. In Texas, where I live, high-altitude clouds like those are a near daily occurrence here, and you nailed them.

All in all, this commission was amazing. I very much enjoyed receiving the commission... and passing it on to my friend Squigglz. Anyways, because your kind demeanor, willingness to go out of your way to get the picture exactly as the person wanted it, serious attention-to-detail, and low price for the quality provided, I advise you expect more from me, and likely from Squigglz too, in the near future. Thank you... and I hope you enjoy your well-deserved tip!

Nothing gives me more satisfaction than being able to meet the expectations of those who count on me; And knowing that I met yours, certainly makes me a very, very happy person. Your effusive praise for the final piece is very welcome indeed, but being my own worst critic, I can almost immediately find half a dozen aspects of the picture where I feel I could have done better, if I had just a bit more of specific skill and experience. I will leave you guessing which aspects are those, and I will try to keep on growing up as an illustrator so that our feelings about the results of my work are more in line with each other... next time.

Once again, thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
