Stand your Ground

A piece done for my MLP-themed Clash of Clans clan, illustrating some of the most prominent members, including Astranacus and JesusTKC.

I tried to take advantage of this piece to try an entirely different painting paradigm. Whereas I usually go for "outline first", this time I tried my hand at "color first" for the characters. This is the default mode for many artists and allows for truly impressive results with a painterly style. I wanted in on some of that action, but I seem to have underestimated the amount of practice that is apparently needed to make it work, and the way my drawing mind is attuned to my customary drawing paradigm, and doesn't seem to want to let go of it. This is either the point at which I meet my talent's limitations, or only the beginning of a new journey. Now the issue is - is this worth the risk of starting all over again?

Yeah, the results are kind of disappointing. I'm not sure that I want to pursue this avenue, when I've had plenty of success with my previous methods.
